Cookie Run: Crumble Classes — All Four Roles & Elements

Every Cookie in CookieRun: Crumble has a role and an element. You field up to 12 Cookies against endless swarms, so the shape of the team matters more than any single unit — and both axes are now known for the entire 69-Cookie launch roster.

Naming note. Devsisters’ pre-launch material called the roles Vanguard, Defender and Shooter, and never mentioned the fourth. The shipped game uses Charge, Tank, Ranged and Support. Both names appear below, because the old ones are still what most guides and search results use.

The four roles

Role Pre-launch name Cookies What it does
Charge Vanguard 19 Frontline. Pushes into the swarm and clears waves at close range.
Ranged Shooter 20 Damage from the back. Carries clear speed, fragile if exposed.
Support 17 Buffs, heals and utility. Not a damage role.
Tank Defender 13 Soaks the swarm and keeps the backline alive on long runs.

Support is a quarter of the roster and had no pre-launch name at all, which is why a lot of guides — including earlier versions of this one — describe Crumble as a three-class game. It is not.

Charge (Vanguard)

The frontline. Charge Cookies push into the swarm, deal close-range damage and clear waves fast. They take the brunt of the enemy, so they want a Tank behind them to survive long runs.

Examples: Dark Cherry (R, Fire), Oven Wanderer (TSSR, Fire), Vampire (SSR, Fire), Cream Soda (SSR, Water).

Tank (Defender)

The survivability anchor. Tanks soak damage and protect the fragile back line. On long survivor maps a strong Tank is usually what keeps a run alive.

Examples: Berry Yogurt (R, Water), Dark Choco (SSR, Dark), Madeleine (SSR, Light), Ion Cookie Robot (SSR, Water).

Ranged (Shooter)

The damage core. Ranged Cookies sit at the back and deal sustained damage while the frontline holds. They carry your clear speed and fold if left exposed.

Examples: Wind Archer (TSSR, Grass), Espresso (SSR, Grass), Scorpion (SSR, Fire), Melon Soda (SSR, Water).

Support

Buffs, heals and utility — the role that had no pre-launch name. Support Cookies do not carry damage; they make the rest of the team hold longer or hit harder.

Examples: Grapevine (R, Grass), Pomegranate (SSR, Dark), Toothpaste (SSR, Grass), Herb (SR, Grass).

Grapevine is a Support, not a Shooter. It was billed as a Shooter before launch, and that error is worth knowing about: the starter trio every guide recommends — Dark Cherry, Berry Yogurt, Grapevine — is a Charge, a Tank and a Support. There is no ranged Cookie in it at all.

Elements

Separately from role, every Cookie has one of five elements. The launch roster is close to even:

Element Cookies
Fire 15
Grass 14
Water 14
Dark 12
Light 12

Two Cookies have no published element yet. Element interactions have not been detailed by Devsisters, so treat this as an identification axis for now rather than a counter-picking one.

How to balance a team

Twelve slots, four roles. The safe default is coverage rather than stacking: a Charge front, a Tank to anchor, Ranged for clear speed, and at least one Support — the role most players skip because they never heard it existed.

Filter the tier list by role to see what your own roster is missing. That is the question this page exists to answer.

Sources. Roles and elements come from the per-Cookie infoboxes on the Cookie Run Wiki, read 5 August 2026, cross-checked against namu.wiki’s role/rarity/element matrix. Both agree on all four counts: Charge 19, Ranged 20, Support 17, Tank 13 = 69.

FAQ

How many classes does Cookie Run: Crumble have?

Four: Charge, Tank, Ranged and Support. Devsisters' pre-launch material named only the first three — as Vanguard, Defender and Shooter — which is why many guides say three. Support is 17 of the 69 launch Cookies.

What class is Grapevine?

Support. It was billed as a Shooter before launch, but the shipped game lists it as Support. That makes the commonly recommended starter trio of Dark Cherry, Berry Yogurt and Grapevine a Charge, a Tank and a Support, with no ranged damage in it.

What are the elements in Cookie Run: Crumble?

Fire, Water, Grass, Light and Dark. The launch roster is close to even: Fire 15, Grass 14, Water 14, Light 12, Dark 12. They do counter each other: Fire beats Grass, Water beats Fire, Grass beats Water, and Light and Dark counter each other both ways.
