Cocoa Cookie is an R-rarity Water-element Tank in CookieRun: Crumble. Their skill Marshmallow Cocoa runs on a 5-second cooldown: a charge on a large cup that damages and launches everything in the path, with reduced damage taken while the charge is happening.

What Marshmallow Cocoa does
The in-game text is short: “Charges on a large cup, dealing damage to enemies in path and launching them. Damage taken reduced while charging.” Three separate things are packed into that sentence, and they are worth separating.
Damage along a line. This is not a hit on the Cookie in front. The charge travels, so everything standing in the path takes it. Against a spread-out wave that is mediocre; against a clump it is the best thing Cocoa does.
A launch. Enemies hit are thrown, not just pushed. That is crowd control, and on a Tank it is the part that actually keeps your back line alive — enemies spend the launch airborne instead of attacking.
A damage reduction window on Cocoa. This is the unusual piece. Most Tank skills in the game are offensive; this one has a defensive rider attached to the same button. Cocoa is tankiest exactly while charging into the enemy, which is when a Tank is most exposed.
What the wiki does not publish is how much. There is no percentage on the damage reduction and no multiplier on the charge damage, so any number you see quoted for those is someone’s estimate, not game data. Base per-stat values for R Tanks are not published in our data set either, so we are not going to print an ATK/DEF/HP line for Cocoa the way we can for the SSR classes.
Who buffs Cocoa, by name
Cocoa receives exactly one Synergy: Projectile Speed. Two Cookies in the entire 69-Cookie launch roster grant it.
| Provider | Rarity | Class | Cooldown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alchemist Cookie | R | Ranged | 4.5s |
| Pomegranate Cookie | SSR | Support | 10.0s |
Alchemist Cookie is the better pairing, and it is not close. At 4.5 seconds it cycles more than twice as often as Pomegranate’s 10 seconds, and Synergy uptime is a function of how often the provider’s skill goes off. Alchemist is also R rarity — the same tier as Cocoa. You do not need to pull an SSR to turn Cocoa’s one Synergy on.
That is a pattern worth naming, because it repeats across this roster: the cheap Cookies routinely cover the Synergies that expensive Cookies also want. Pomegranate is an SSR Support whose team-wide ATK buff is valuable in its own right, but as a Projectile Speed source specifically, an R Cookie beats it on cooldown. Do not hold Cocoa back waiting for the rare option. The full provider table for every Synergy is on the Synergy page.
One honest caveat: Marshmallow Cocoa is a charge, not a thrown object, and the wiki does not explain what Projectile Speed does to a skill with no visible projectile. We have not played the game and will not guess at the interaction. Treat Projectile Speed as Cocoa’s listed Synergy tag, which is a fact, rather than as a known damage increase, which is not.
Cocoa grants nothing
Only 18 of the 69 launch Cookies grant a Synergy to their team at all. Granting is the single most durable reason to keep a low-rarity Cookie in a squad long after their own numbers stop mattering, because a Synergy source is a slot no SSR upgrade can make redundant.
Cocoa is not one of the 18. Marshmallow Cocoa gives the team nothing but its own damage, launch and self-protection. That is the central fact about Cocoa’s long-term value: there is no hidden support role that keeps them relevant. When a better Tank shows up, Cocoa is simply replaced.
Compare that with Alchemist Cookie above, an R Cookie that does grant, and which therefore has a permanent job.
The competition: one other R Tank
There are exactly two Tanks at R rarity.
| Cookie | Skill | Cooldown | Receives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cocoa Cookie | Marshmallow Cocoa | 5.0s | Projectile Speed |
| Berry Yogurt Cookie | Yogurt Smash | 1.5s | Range |
Berry Yogurt cycles at 1.5 seconds against Cocoa’s 5.0 — the wrong way round for Cocoa. Berry Yogurt’s skill fires more than three times for every one of Cocoa’s. On raw frequency that is a large gap, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.
What Cocoa has that a fast small hit does not is the launch and the damage-reduction window. A skill that goes off every 5 seconds but removes several enemies from the fight each time is a different tool from one that ticks constantly. Which is better depends on the content, and we cannot claim to have tested it.
The gap in Synergy access is also real. Berry Yogurt receives Range, which several Cookies grant; Cocoa receives Projectile Speed, which two do. If you are building around a provider you already own, that may decide it for you before the cooldowns do.
Water element: extra damage to Fire, extra taken from Grass. See the element chart.
Should you build Cocoa?
Early on, yes. Long term, no. Cocoa is a perfectly usable body for the front of an opening team — the launch is genuine crowd control and the charge-time damage reduction means Cocoa survives the approach that kills squishier stand-ins. If Cocoa is the Tank you have, run Cocoa.
But apply the test we apply to every low-rarity Cookie on this site: does it grant a Synergy you have no other source for? For Cocoa the answer is no. Cocoa grants nothing. There is no argument for a permanent roster slot, so do not sink deep promotion materials into them once you can see an SSR Tank coming.
The one thing to do while Cocoa is in your team: put Alchemist Cookie in it too. Alchemist is the same rarity, cycles at 4.5 seconds, and is one of only two ways to switch Cocoa’s Synergy on at all.
Where Cocoa sits relative to the full roster is a question we deliberately do not answer — see the tier list tool for how we handle ranking.

FAQ
What is Cocoa Cookie's skill in Cookie Run: Crumble?
Marshmallow Cocoa, on a 5-second cooldown. Cocoa charges forward on a large cup, damaging enemies in the path and launching them, and takes reduced damage for the duration of the charge.
Which Cookies boost Cocoa in Cookie Run: Crumble?
Cocoa receives one Synergy, Projectile Speed, and only two Cookies grant it: Alchemist Cookie (R, Ranged, 4.5-second cooldown) and Pomegranate Cookie (SSR, Support, 10-second cooldown). Alchemist is the R-rarity option and cycles more than twice as often.
Is Cocoa Cookie good in Cookie Run: Crumble?
Cocoa is a serviceable early Tank with real defensive value while charging, but the skill cycles on 5 seconds against the only other R Tank, Berry Yogurt Cookie, at 1.5 seconds. Cocoa grants no Synergy to the team, so there is no reason to keep the slot once SSR Tanks arrive.
What element is Cocoa Cookie in Cookie Run: Crumble?
Water. Cocoa deals extra damage to Fire enemies and takes extra damage from Grass.
