Espresso Cookie is an SSR Grass-element Ranged Cookie in CookieRun: Crumble. His skill Grinding runs on a 6-second cooldown and is the clearest crowd-control package in the launch roster: it gathers enemies into a pile, then detonates on them.

What Grinding actually does
Three stages fire in sequence: coffee beans for damage, a giant whirlwind blade, then a black hole that blows enemies away.
| Value | At base | At max promotion |
|---|---|---|
| Damage per tick | 20.2% of ATK | 21.2% of ATK |
| Damage tick | 0.33s | 0.33s |
| Duration | 2s | 2s |
| Gathering | 15 | 15 |
| Explosion damage | 232.4% | 244.6% |
| Knockback | 2.5 | 2.5 |
| Airborne | 0.4s | 0.4s |
Two numbers carry the kit. Gathering: 15 is the pull that drags scattered enemies into one cluster. Explosion damage: 232.4% is what then lands on that cluster. The ticking whirlwind between them is small on its own — 20.2% every 0.33 seconds for 2 seconds — but it is applied to everything the pull has collected.
Note how little the promotion levels move: the explosion goes from 232.4% to 244.6%, about 5%. Espresso’s power comes from his kit shape, not from investment scaling.
Crowds, not bosses
This is the honest framing of Espresso. The gathering effect does nothing to a single enemy — there is nothing to gather. Against a screen full of enemies it converts a scattered wave into one target for a 232.4% hit.
So he is strong exactly where Crumble spends most of its time (endless swarms in campaign progression) and weakest where a lot of players want a carry to shine (a single hard boss). If you are stuck on a boss, a different Ranged Cookie is the answer.
Who buffs him: the easiest Synergy to cover
Espresso receives Range Synergy, which is the best-supplied Synergy in the game. Four Cookies grant it:
| Provider | Rarity | Cooldown |
|---|---|---|
| Cream Soda Cookie | SSR | 3.5s |
| Knight Cookie | U | 5.0s |
| Toothpaste Cookie | SSR | 6.5s |
| Macaron Cookie | SR | 7.0s |
Cream Soda is the standout pairing at 3.5 seconds — nearly double the uptime of Macaron. And Knight Cookie is a U-rarity unit, so even an account with no SSR Support can cover Espresso’s Synergy. That is unusual; most carries in this game are gated behind a rare provider.
More Range increases the area his skill covers, which directly increases how many enemies the gather-and-detonate loop catches. It is the Synergy his kit most wants.
Competition: five other SSR Ranged Cookies
Every SSR Ranged Cookie has identical base stats (155 ATK / 60 DEF / 2,170 HP), so the choice between them is entirely about skill and cooldown:
| Cookie | Skill | Cooldown | Receives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Twizzly Gummy | Twizzly Beam | 3.5s | Chain |
| Scorpion | Venom Sting | 4.2s | Volley, Duration |
| Melon Soda | Soda Blast | 5.2s | Rapid Fire |
| Espresso | Grinding | 6.0s | Range |
| Milky Way | Sugarcloud Express | 6.5s | Range |
| Cream Puff | Jellius Extremus! | 7.0s | Duration |
Espresso is mid-pack on cooldown. What separates him is that no other Ranged Cookie in this list gathers enemies — the rest deal damage where enemies already are. If you already run Twizzly Gummy for fast chained damage, Espresso stacks well with it: he makes the pile, Twizzly chains through it.
Milky Way is his closest comparison — also Range, also mid cooldown — but Milky Way’s dream train knocks enemies back rather than pulling them in, which is the opposite effect. Running both means one Cookie undoing the other’s setup.
Should you build him?
Yes, if you are progressing through campaign content. The gather-and-detonate loop is the most efficient wave clear available at SSR, his Synergy is the easiest in the game to cover, and one of its four providers costs you nothing (Knight, U rarity).
The two reasons to hold off: you are stuck on a single-target fight, or you already run Milky Way and would rather not have two Range Cookies working against each other.

FAQ
What is Espresso Cookie's skill in Cookie Run: Crumble?
Grinding, on a 6-second cooldown. He fires coffee beans, deals damage with a giant whirlwind blade, then blows enemies away with a black hole. At base the whirlwind ticks 20.2% of ATK every 0.33 seconds for 2 seconds while gathering enemies, then the explosion deals 232.4% of ATK.
Which Cookies boost Espresso in Cookie Run: Crumble?
Espresso receives Range Synergy, which is the best-supplied Synergy in the game — four Cookies grant it: Cream Soda (SSR, 3.5s cooldown), Toothpaste (SSR, 6.5s), Macaron (SR, 7.0s) and Knight (U, 5.0s). Cream Soda has by far the shortest cooldown of the four.
Is Espresso Cookie good in Cookie Run: Crumble?
He is built for crowds rather than single targets. The gathering effect pulls enemies into one place and the black hole then hits all of them at 232.4% of ATK, so his value rises with the number of enemies on screen and falls against a lone boss.
What element is Espresso Cookie in Cookie Run: Crumble?
Grass. He deals extra damage to Water enemies and takes extra damage from Fire. Light and Dark do not interact with him at all.
