What Take an Acorn! does
Two things at once: area damage, and a DEF reduction on everything caught in it.
The DEF reduction is the part worth caring about. A Ranged Cookie that only deals damage competes with every other damage dealer on raw numbers. One that lowers enemy DEF makes the rest of the team hit harder for as long as the debuff is up, which means Pancake’s contribution is not capped by Pancake’s own attack stat.
It also means Pancake wants to fire early and often rather than being saved for a moment. A 5.5-second cooldown is mid-pack: not fast, but fast enough that the debuff can be kept running through most of a fight.
The Focus and RES line, explained
The in-game skill text attaches a condition to the debuff:
Debuff Application Rate when the caster’s Focus equals the target’s RES. The rate increases with higher caster Focus or lower target RES.
In plain terms, the DEF reduction is not guaranteed. It is rolled against the target, and the odds are decided by Pancake’s Focus stat versus the enemy’s RES stat. Push Focus up, or fight enemies with low RES, and the debuff lands more often. Against a high-RES enemy it lands less often.
The wiki line as published gives the condition but not the baseline percentage that applies when Focus and RES are level, so we are not going to guess at a number. Treat it as a mechanic to build Focus around, not a fixed value you can plan damage math on.
Pancake’s per-stat base values are not published in the data we have. We list stat templates on this site only for SSR Cookies, where two independent sources agreed; for SR and below we would be inventing them.
Duration Synergy: three providers, two of them U-rarity
Pancake receives Duration Synergy and grants nothing back.
| Provider | Rarity | Class | Cooldown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cheerleader Cookie | U | Support | 5.0s |
| Coffee Cookie | U | Support | 5.0s |
| Milk Cookie’s Crunchy Strong Pediatrician | SSR | Support | 7.0s |
This table is the site’s recurring argument in miniature. The two U-rarity Cookies, the cheapest tier in the game, both cycle at 5.0 seconds, faster than the SSR option at 7.0. If you are picking a Duration provider on cooldown alone, an SSR pull does not beat a Cookie you almost certainly already own.
All three are Supports, so whichever you take fills the same team slot. Cheerleader and Coffee are interchangeable from Pancake’s side; pick on their own skills and elements, not on what they do for Pancake.
Duration is not one of the scarce Synergies. Three providers is a comfortable supply compared with Rapid Fire, where twelve Cookies compete for two grantors. Pancake will rarely be the reason a team fails to line up. Full provider list on the Synergy page.
Pancake grants nothing
Worth stating clearly, because it is the difference between a Cookie you keep forever and a Cookie you replace. Only 18 of the 69 launch Cookies grant a Synergy to anyone. Those 18 stay useful long after their own skills stop mattering, because they are somebody else’s requirement.
Pancake is not one of them, and neither is any other SR Ranged Cookie. That means Pancake’s roster value is entirely their own skill. When a better Ranged Cookie arrives, nothing keeps Pancake on the team.
Competition inside SR Ranged
Five other SR Ranged Cookies compete for the same slot:
| Cookie | Skill | Cooldown | Receives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dr. Wasabi Cookie | Wasabi Syrup | 4.0s | Rapid Fire |
| Lemon Cookie | Lightning Cube | 4.0s | Projectile Speed |
| Rye Cookie | Showdown Time | 4.0s | Rapid Fire |
| Witchberry Cookie | Feline Ruckus | 4.0s | Pierce |
| Pancake Cookie | Take an Acorn! | 5.5s | Duration |
| Popcorn Cookie | Ready, Action! | 6.0s | Duration |
Four of the five cycle at 4.0 seconds. Pancake is second-slowest in the class, ahead of only Popcorn. On cooldown alone this is a straightforward loss.
What Pancake has that the four fast ones do not is the DEF debuff, plus an easy Synergy. Dr. Wasabi and Rye both want Rapid Fire, the tightest bottleneck in the game, with two providers for twelve recipients. Pancake’s Duration has three providers, two of them throwaway-cheap. On an early roster, “buffable today” often beats “1.5 seconds faster in theory.”
Popcorn also receives Duration, so a single Cheerleader or Coffee covers both if you run them together.
Team fit
Pancake pairs with Cheerleader Cookie or Coffee Cookie, both U-rarity Supports at 5.0 seconds. That is the whole requirement.
The DEF reduction argues for putting Pancake alongside your highest single-target damage dealer rather than a second area attacker. Reducing DEF on a pile you are already clearing quickly is wasted; reducing it on the thing you are struggling to kill is not.
Grass element: extra damage to Water, extra taken from Fire. See the element chart.
Should you build Pancake?
Early on, yes. The DEF debuff is real utility, and the Synergy requirement is one of the easiest in the game to satisfy without spending anything. An SR Cookie you can actually buff on day one does more for you than an SSR you cannot.
Longer term, Pancake is a Cookie you replace. They grant nothing, so no future team needs them; they cycle slower than four of their five classmates; and their strongest effect depends on a Focus-versus-RES roll rather than landing outright. When an SSR Ranged Cookie you can buff turns up, move on.
The one reason to keep Pancake past that point is if DEF reduction is specifically what your team lacks and no other Cookie you own supplies it. Check what you already have before levelling. Class-by-class comparison on the tier list tool and the classes guide.

FAQ
What is Pancake Cookie's skill in Cookie Run: Crumble?
Take an Acorn!, on a 5.5-second cooldown. Pancake carpet bombs the area with acorns, damaging enemies and reducing their DEF. How reliably the DEF debuff lands depends on Pancake's Focus against the target's RES.
Which Cookies boost Pancake in Cookie Run: Crumble?
Pancake receives Duration Synergy. Three Cookies grant it: Cheerleader Cookie (U, 5.0s cooldown), Coffee Cookie (U, 5.0s) and Milk Cookie's Crunchy Strong Pediatrician (SSR, 7.0s). The two cheapest options also have the shortest cooldowns.
Does Pancake Cookie grant any Synergy in Cookie Run: Crumble?
No. Pancake only receives Duration and grants nothing. Only 18 of the 69 launch Cookies grant a Synergy at all, and none of the SR Ranged Cookies are among them.
What element is Pancake Cookie in Cookie Run: Crumble?
Grass. Pancake deals extra damage to Water enemies and takes extra damage from Fire.
