What Giant Cake Hound does

Two stages. First they summon a Cake Hound, which increases the Move SPD of nearby allies and grants Pierce Synergy. Then they charge with it, dealing damage to enemies in the path.

The summon-then-charge structure means the buff lands before the damage, so allies are already amplified when the charge connects.

Pierce has two providers. That is the whole story.

Pierce Synergy increases how many enemies an attack passes through. Six Cookies receive it. Only two grant it:

Provider Rarity Class Cooldown
Strawberry Shortcake SSR Charge 6.2s
Rockstar Cookie SR Support 10.0s

Strawberry Shortcake’s cooldown is 38% shorter than Rockstar’s. For a Synergy this scarce, that gap decides which one you build.

Compare with Range, which has four providers, one of them refreshing every 3.5 seconds and one of them a U-rarity Cookie you almost certainly own. Pierce is the opposite situation: two options, both uncommon, one clearly better.

Wind Archer is the reason to care

Wind Archer Cookie is one of the two TSSR Cookies at launch. His skill Last Wind fires a line attack with 5 effective hits, and he receives Pierce — the Synergy that increases exactly that number.

If you pulled Wind Archer and want him at full value, Strawberry Shortcake is the better of your two options and there is no third. That single fact is why they appear in team recommendations well above what their own damage would justify.

The pairing also works structurally: Strawberry Shortcake is a Charge, so they hold the frontline that Wind Archer, a back-line Ranged unit, needs held.

Competition: the other SSR Charges

Cookie Skill Cooldown Grants Receives
Cream Soda Cream Soda Blade 3.5s Range Projectile Speed
Vampire Vampirism 6.0s Chain
Strawberry Shortcake Giant Cake Hound 6.2s Pierce Projectile Speed
Skating Queen A Perfect Perfomance 8.0s Chain Duration

Cream Soda has the better cooldown and supplies a Synergy 18 Cookies want, against Strawberry Shortcake’s 6. On raw reach, Cream Soda wins.

The counter-argument is scarcity. Range has four providers; Pierce has two. Cream Soda is replaceable — by Knight, Toothpaste or Macaron. Strawberry Shortcake is replaceable only by a Cookie with a 10-second cooldown.

Both receive Projectile Speed, so Pomegranate Cookie or Alchemist Cookie buffs whichever you field.

Should you build them?

Yes, if you own Wind Archer or any other Pierce recipient. In that case they are close to mandatory.

Otherwise they are a solid but not urgent Charge. The Move SPD buff and charge damage are fine; it is the Pierce supply that makes them special, and that only matters if somebody on the team can use it.

FAQ

What is Strawberry Shortcake Cookie's skill in Cookie Run: Crumble?

Giant Cake Hound, on a 6.2-second cooldown. They summon a Cake Hound that increases nearby allies' Move SPD and grants Pierce Synergy, then charge with it, damaging enemies in the path.

Why is Strawberry Shortcake important in Cookie Run: Crumble?

Pierce Synergy has only two sources in the entire 69-Cookie roster — Strawberry Shortcake and Rockstar Cookie — and Strawberry Shortcake's 6.2-second cooldown is much better than Rockstar's 10 seconds. If your carry receives Pierce, there is effectively no substitute.

Which Cookies need Strawberry Shortcake in Cookie Run: Crumble?

Any Pierce recipient, most notably Wind Archer Cookie — the TSSR Ranged unit whose Last Wind hits up to 5 enemies in a line, which is exactly what Pierce scales.

What are Strawberry Shortcake Cookie's pronouns?
