Name change, August 13, 2026. Devsisters renamed this skill from Overly Rich Wine to Overly Rich Juice in the August 13 update, explaining in the patch notes that they would rather not mention wine with so many young Cookies in the game. Only the name changed — the cooldown, the Synergy and the numbers are untouched. The old name is kept here so searches for it still land.

Support, not Shooter

Devsisters’ pre-launch material called her a Shooter, and a lot of guides still repeat it. The shipped game lists her as Support.

That is not a cosmetic difference. It means the commonly recommended starter trio — Dark Cherry, Berry Yogurt and Grapevine — is a Charge, a Tank and a Support with no ranged damage in it at all. If your early clear speed feels slow, that is why. See the classes guide for the full four-role breakdown.

One of two Rapid Fire sources in the game

This is the reason Grapevine outlasts every other starter Cookie.

Only 18 of the 69 launch Cookies grant any Synergy. Of those, exactly two grant Rapid Fire:

Provider Rarity Class Cooldown
Grapevine Cookie R Support 5.5s
Orange Cookie SR Support 9.5s

Twelve Cookies benefit from Rapid Fire — the worst want-to-supply ratio of any Synergy in the game. And Grapevine’s cooldown is nearly half Orange’s, so it is not only one of two options, it is the better one.

The practical consequence: a free R-rarity starter is the correct long-term answer for a whole category of carries. That is unusual, and it is the single most useful thing to know about her.

Who wants what she supplies

Rapid Fire recipients include, among the top-rarity Cookies:

  • Melon Soda Cookie (SSR Ranged) — her skill is pure forward damage, so activation count is the most direct multiplier she can receive
  • Strawberry Crepe Cookie (SSR Tank) — joint-fastest SSR Tank at 4.0 seconds
  • Space Doughnut’s Royal Excellence (SSR Support)
  • Herb Cookie (SR Support) — itself a Volley provider
  • Bear Jelly Worker and Dark Cherry Cookie (R Charges) — both fast, both free or cheap

Note that Dark Cherry is also a starter. So two of the three Cookies the game hands you are a Rapid Fire provider and a Rapid Fire recipient — a functional pairing before you have pulled anything.

Full provider table on the Synergy page.

What she receives

Range Synergy, granted by four Cookies: Cream Soda (SSR, 3.5s), Knight (U, 5.0s), Toothpaste (SSR, 6.5s) and Macaron (SR, 7.0s). Range is the best-supplied Synergy in the game, so buffing her back is easy on any roster — Knight Cookie is U rarity.

Competition: the other R-rarity Support

There is one: Cheesecake Cookie, which grants Volley on an 8-second cooldown.

The two are not really rivals — they supply different Synergies. If your carry receives Rapid Fire you need Grapevine; if it receives Volley you need Cheesecake or one of the two SR alternatives (Herb, Tiger Lily). Both can sit on the same team.

Element

Grass. She deals extra damage to Water enemies and takes extra from Fire. As a back-line Support she should rarely be the one taking hits, so this matters less for her than for a Tank. See the element chart.

Should you build her?

Yes, and unlike most starter Cookies you should expect to keep her.

The argument is not her damage — she is a Support and does not carry a fight. It is supply scarcity: twelve Cookies want the Synergy she grants, and only one other Cookie in the game can grant it, on nearly double the cooldown. Pulling SSRs does not solve that, because no SSR grants Rapid Fire.

The one thing she does not fix is the starter trio’s missing damage. Pair her with a Ranged Cookie as soon as you have one.

FAQ

What is Grapevine Cookie's skill in Cookie Run: Crumble?

Overly Rich Juice, on a 5.5-second cooldown. It grants Rapid Fire Synergy to allies. Grapevine is one of only two Cookies in the entire 69-Cookie roster that can grant Rapid Fire.

What class is Grapevine in Cookie Run: Crumble?

Support, element Grass. Devsisters billed her as a Shooter before launch and many guides still say so, but the shipped game lists her as Support — buffs and utility, not damage.

Why is Grapevine important in Cookie Run: Crumble?

Twelve Cookies benefit from Rapid Fire Synergy and only two can grant it: Grapevine and Orange Cookie. Grapevine has the better cooldown of the two at 5.5 seconds against 9.5, and it is handed to you free at the start.

Should you keep Grapevine long-term in Cookie Run: Crumble?

Yes, unlike most starter Cookies. It is not kept for its damage — it is kept because it supplies a Synergy that only one other Cookie in the game can, and that scarcity does not go away as your roster improves.
